5 Reasons Why a Healthier Lifestyle is Socially Contagious

 5. When you lose weight and feel great, your positivity can inspire not only your friends, but your friends’ friends too.

4. Your health practices at home are being observed by your family members, whether you notice it or not.  When you practice, and not preach, you set the example for them to follow.

3. When enough messages flood the media about living a healthy lifestyle (especially those images of Jennifer Hudson!), it shapes the norms and expectations of society.

2. Internet social networks can also create the viral effect of health and wellness, from tweeting weight loss goals to sharing dietary practices on facebook.

1. When you team up with a buddy who wants a healthier lifestyle, you can influence and motivate each other to eat properly and exercise.  It definitely helps when you want to fit into that little black dress for a night on the town as a reward!

Me Time = Tiara Time

After getting married, I had wondered what I would do with my wedding day attire.  With the dress, I decided to have it cut up and made into heirloom pieces that I would pass down to my children.  The shoes, well, unless I dyed them they would be a lost cause.

And then there was my tiara. I had the golden opportunity to allow it to grace my head for a mere few hours on that glorious day.  Then it went back into the delicate wrapping never to be touched again.  I figured it would stay there until my daughter was old enough and perhaps getting married and needed something old, as goes the tradition.

Then today, I saw a television program today that inspired me to dust off my tiara and symbolically demonstrate my rightful place as queen of my castle!  The LiveWell television host Lisa Quinn shared that whenever she places her tiara on her head at home, her family knows it’s her “me time” and leaves her alone until she takes it off.  I thought that was just brilliant!

Yet even for those ladies out there who don’t have a tiara or a family to parade around, get a tiara anyway.  Wear it during those moments when you’re not feeling your best.  It will remind you to hold your head high and that you hold the key to your ‘queendom’.
