What’s the Best/Worst Beauty and Health Advice You’ve Ever Been Given?
Between the internet, television, magazines and books, beauty and health experts, family and friends, we receive tons of information on how best to take care of our beauty and health. Some of the information we receive is grounded in fact (ie. limit caffeine intake because it dries out the skin).
Some, on the other hand, are based on hearsay or old wives tales that have been past down the generations and still practiced without question (ie. Vaseline makes eyelashes grow).
What your best or worst advice that you’ve been given? Do tell!

Cruelty-free Beauty Courtesy of My Beauty Bunny
Let’s be mindful! Learn about the best products to use that are not tested on animals from our guest blogger:
Jennifer Mathews is the Editor-in-Chief of My Beauty Bunny (http://www.mybeautybunny.com), a cruelty-free beauty blog with hundreds of beauty product reviews, giveaways, tips and advice for “fashionable ladies and gents.” My Beauty Bunny only reviews cruelty-free products that have not been tested on animals.
As the editor-in-chief of a cruelty-free beauty blog, people often ask me which products are the best. Of course, that depends on your skin type, hair type and personal preferences. And, it’s amazing how one product will FAIL for me and then someone else I know will LOVE it!
Alba Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser – This is the best cleanser! For reference, I have sensitive, combination skin with frequent breakouts. A good friend recommended this to me – she has extremely sensitive skin (more sensitive than mine) and she also loves Alba’s facial cleanser. It has enzymes to remove dead skin and dirt, but it doesn’t dry out your skin at all. It makes your skin feel super soft without leaving any residue! You can buy it in drugstores – a definite must-try!
We all want to buy cruelty-free beauty products, but many times the problem is that we don’t have time to do research on brands before buying. You can get a free cruelty-free shopping guide from Caring Consumer or Leaping Bunny. Keep these guides handy and don’t forget to check the backs of products for the leaping bunny symbol or the PETA cruelty-free symbol.

The most incredible reflexology experience ever!! ~ Courtesy of Temple of Glam
If you have been thinking about getting reflexology done, but weren’t sure of its benefits, check out this personal experience courtesy of Shaunequa from Temple of Glam. According to our guest blogger, “I paid for a 30 minute reflexology session and 30 minute power nap and I awoke feeling like Snow White.”
So when was the last time you truly felt rested like that? I’m guessing that it’s probably been a while, but if you need more convincing you can live vicariously through her experience here.
Enjoy!

Clumps of Mascara
We had the pleasure of connecting with the founder of Clumps of Mascara, and they shared with us their perspectives on the connection between beauty and health. As you know, we believe the two go hand in hand, but don’t just take our word for it. Read on:
Clumps of Mascara is a beauty blog for women new to make-up. Many of us are familiar with certain brands and techniques but we just don’t know how to apply them. I attempt to share my experiences with ladies of all backgrounds and preach the philosophy that “it’s okay to not know”. Clumps also has the largest mascara review archive on the net.
To me, beauty and health are synonymous. Beauty means loving that mole on your chin or that gap in between your teeth. Health means taking care of the inside mentally and physically. Many people think that make-up creates beauty, but I disagree. Make-up enhances our already beautiful features. A little bit of lip gloss can bring about an enormous amount of self-confidence and sometimes us women need that extra boost. But without being cognizant of our health, does a pretty lip gloss really matter? Beauty and health need each other.
Clumps of Mascara’s beauty and health recommendation: I think every woman should invest in a good blush. With a light brush application, a good blush can highlight the cheekbones and make them pop even more. A good massage can do wonders! I don’t always have the time or money to invest in them but when I do, they do so much for my sanity.
Great message – thanks Clumps of Mascara!
